Oh, To Be Susan Sontag

Beat Up

Another evening of nothings. For whatever reason, this made sense to me for a short time.

Carrie Schneider

I went to school with her, so perhaps I'm a bit biased. But in my head, a Carrie Schneider retrospective is already shaping up to be quite impressive. Often using, but not limited to, photography as her medium, Carrie creates work enshrined in narrative and identity. And dare I say, it's nothing short of brilliant.

Bryan Schutmaat

Houston-based photographer Bryan Schutmaat is something to behold. Perhaps to note his Eggleston-isms or Shore-isms is trite and limiting. And it is because something else is going on here. A softness and emotional fervor that's absolutely breathtaking. Too many wonderful photos to just pick one. See for yourself.

Check out Bryan's Flickr Page.

The Brothers Kehoe

Pittsburgh artists Andy & Ben Kehoe's illustrative stylings are catching everyone's eye, as well they should be. Andy's work contains glimpses of Where The Wild Things Are, but his political and moral bent wisely take it out of the world of children. Ben's works walks us through an inverted Crusades of sorts, where fighting for valor doesn't seem to be worth fighting for anymore. Visit their sites. Buy some prints. Because next year you won't be able to afford them anymore. Or, catch them in Chicago in February at the Green Lantern Gallery.
